What’s A Fun Fact About You?

Before becoming a Nursery Manager, I used to sing in a Latin band. Performing with others taught me so much about teamwork and confidence, and I love bringing those elements into nursery life. Music remains an important part of how I engage with children, whether through rhythm or movement, because it allows the children to express themselves and learn in joyful ways.
What Helps You Stay Connected With Your Communities?
We work closely with our families and local community, supporting causes and taking part in fundraising for events like Wear It Pink and Children In Need. These moments bring everyone together for something meaningful, creating a shared sense of purpose and belonging. Building those connections means that Teddington feels like more than a nursery, it feels like a community where families, children and our team are always welcomed and supported.
What’s Something You Have Loved About Your Early Years Career So Far?
One of the most rewarding aspects has been creating an environment filled with positivity and joy. Watching children thrive while also seeing the team grow in confidence and ability makes me incredibly proud. That sense of shared achievement, where both children and adults are reaching their potential, creates an atmosphere of motivation and happiness that makes coming to work every day so inspiring.
What’s Your Ambition To Help Improve The Early Years Sector?

My ambition is to provide learning experiences that nurture every part of a child’s development. I’m especially passionate about forest school sessions, where children explore the natural world, take risks safely, and build independence and resilience. These kinds of activities not only support academic learning but also emotional wellbeing, social skills and creativity, giving children a strong foundation for the future.
How Do You Create Parent Partnerships At Fennies Teddington?
Parent partnerships are at the heart of what we do. We host stay-and-play sessions every quarter, where families can spend time in the nursery and join in with activities. Parents are regularly invited to share their knowledge with the children, whether through storytelling or practical demonstrations. We also hold parent forums, offer workshops on topics like potty training and behaviour, and keep communication open through weekly memos and an information board. These touches make families feel involved, valued and connected.
What’s One Impact You Like To Make On The Team Atmosphere?
I want the team to always feel recognised and appreciated. Whether it’s celebrating successes, acknowledging effort or taking time to connect through team-building activities outside of nursery, I try to make sure everyone feels valued. A positive atmosphere makes a big difference, not just for the team but for the children and families too, and it helps create a culture where everyone supports one another.
What’s One Way You Help To Upskill Your Team?

Continuous professional development is a big focus at our Teddington nursery. Many of our team are studying for Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications, and I’m proud to support them through that journey. Recognising their ambition and providing opportunities for growth means that team members feel encouraged to develop, and the nursery benefits from the skills and knowledge they bring. Supporting their aspirations is one of the most important parts of my role.
Why Did You Choose To Work In Early Years Education?

I’ve always been drawn to working with children. From babysitting as a teenager in Spain to applying to train as a teacher, I knew education was the right path for me. After moving to the UK and continuing my studies, I discovered my passion for Early Years. Seeing children achieve their goals and knowing I’ve played a part in their journey is an incredible feeling that makes me proud of the work we do every day.
What Passions Do You Have Within The Early Years Curriculum?
I’m passionate about outdoor learning because it supports all seven areas of development. From planting seeds to learning about nature in local parks, children gain confidence and knowledge in ways that feel exciting and memorable. I also love incorporating art and music into our curriculum, giving children a chance to explore their creativity, build self-expression and develop important communication skills.
What Kind Of Leader Are You?

I see myself as a collaborative leader. It’s important to me that the team feel heard, so I always encourage them to share their ideas and experiences. Listening to different perspectives not only helps with decision-making but also builds trust and respect. Leadership is about working together, and I believe that open communication helps us create the very best environment for our children and families.
What Would You Like To Achieve In The Next Six Months?
Over the next six months, I want to continue building on our focus on professional development. Supporting the team in their ambitions, while also growing within my own role, means that together we can strengthen the nursery. By learning new skills and sharing knowledge, we’ll continue to improve the experiences we provide for both children and families.
What’s Your Favourite Thing About Coming To Work?
For me, it’s the people I work with. We all know the role can be challenging at times, but the support and positivity of the team make it such a rewarding place to be. Watching children grow and develop, alongside the dedication of my colleagues, creates an atmosphere of joy and motivation. That sense of togetherness is what makes coming to work every day so enjoyable.
Do You Have Any Exciting Visits Or Upcoming Partnerships Within The Community Planned?

We’ve recently connected with local businesses like Gail’s Bakery and Mam, thanks to relationships built through our families. Partnerships like these not only strengthen our ties within Teddington but also create opportunities for children and parents to enjoy new experiences. These collaborations are a wonderful way of bringing the nursery and the community even closer together.

The best thing about Fennies Teddington is the passion and commitment of our practitioners.
