What’s A Fun Fact About You?
I love baking healthy treats and enjoy sharing this with the children. I show them how to measure ingredients carefully. I explain how to mix them properly and guide them through preparing food in a safe way. These moments give them a sense of achievement and allow them to feel proud of what they have made. Seeing their curiosity and excitement during these activities brings a lot of joy into the nursery day.
What Helps You Stay Connected With Your Communities?

I organise trips to local care homes and the library so the children can meet people outside of the nursery. During these visits, they experience different environments and meet new people. I think it is important for children to feel connected to the world around them and understand that they are part of the wider community. These trips also help families see how we extend learning beyond the nursery.
What’s Something You Have Loved About Your Early Years Career So Far?
One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been watching children grow from their first day until they leave the nursery. I enjoy noticing their confidence develop over time. I love seeing how they explore and express themselves, all whilst responding to a variety of new experiences along the way. Being part of their development reminds me why I chose this career and why every day feels meaningful.
What’s Your Ambition To Help Improve The Early Years Sector?

I want to provide my team with guidance and training so they feel confident and supported in their roles. I believe that when the team feels prepared, children benefit from that level of consistent care. I hope to contribute to high standards in Early Years education by sharing my experience and supporting others. Supporting my team in this way is something I am very passionate about.
How Do You Create Parent Partnerships At Fennies Cheam, Worcester Road?
I focus on building strong relationships with parents from the very first visit. During welcome meetings, I take time to listen carefully to their priorities. During each settling-in session, I spend time understanding each child’s needs. I make sure to keep regular communication and maintain an open-door approach so parents feel included in their child’s learning journey.
What’s One Impact You Like To Make On The Team Atmosphere?

I want my team to feel confident and happy in their work. I encourage them to share ideas and support them while they implement their plans. I enjoy seeing the team engage with the children and notice the progress they make. These moments are deeply rewarding and help maintain a positive and supportive environment.
What’s One Way You Help To Upskill Your Team?
I use team meetings and training sessions to focus on areas where development would be helpful. I provide guidance and give support whenever it is needed. I work alongside my team to show them how to apply new approaches in practice. I want the team to feel confident experimenting and asking questions in a safe environment.
Why Did You Choose To Work In Early Years Education?

I was inspired by my family. My aunt worked in childcare, and my mother worked in a school. After completing my childcare qualifications, progressing through to my level 3, and earning my BA Honours, I realised Early Years education was the career where I could make the most meaningful impact. I enjoy seeing children learn from everyday experiences and knowing I can guide and support them.
What Passions Do You Have Within The Early Years Curriculum?
I enjoy messy play because it allows children to explore in a hands-on way. I also enjoy sensory activities because they give children the chance to experiment and notice changes in textures, sounds and movements. Parents often tell me how much the children enjoy these sessions at nursery, possibly because it means they don’t have any of the mess at home, I can’t blame them! I believe these experiences we create help children develop creativity and independence.
What Kind Of Leader Are You?
I lead by example and get involved in the daily activities of the nursery. I find that showing the team how to approach tasks helps them feel confident. I aim to create an environment where they feel supported and capable in their roles. I listen to the team, adjust my guidance where needed, and focus on making my support practical and meaningful.
What Would You Like To Achieve In The Next Six Months?

I want to maintain a safe and happy environment where children enjoy coming to nursery. I plan to strengthen parent partnerships and continue supporting my team so they feel equipped in their roles. I also want to build more connections with the local community through visits and activities. I want each child to experience learning that excites them and helps them grow.
What’s Your Favourite Thing About Coming To Work?
The best part of my day is seeing the children’s joy. When they call my name or give me a hug, it instantly brightens my day. These moments remind me why I love working in Early Years education and show the positive impact we have on their lives.
Do You Have Any Exciting Visits Or Upcoming Partnerships Within The Community Planned?
I am planning visits to the local library and nearby parks. Children will take part in storytelling sessions. I will also take them to a care home where they can listen to stories and take part in singing sessions. These experiences allow children to explore new environments and connect with the community.
